Florida Villas Direct & Just Villas Direct - Grenada

Christopher Columbus discovered Grenada in 1498. The island was already inhabited by the Carib Indians, who had migrated from the South American mainland, killing or enslaving the peaceful Arawaks who had been the original inhabitants.

The island was settled by the French who called it  La Grenade. When the British took possession of the island from the French, they changed La Grenade to Grenada (pronounced Gre-nay-da).

The three islands of Grenada are located in the Eastern Caribbean at the southern extremity of the Windward Islands, only 100 miles north of Venezuela. To the north lie St. Vincent and the Grenadines and to the south just north of Venezuela are Trinidad and Tobago. Grenada is a three island state: Grenada, and in the Grenadines the islands of Carriacou and Petit Martinique. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is the currency used locally, there is also a symbolic nutmeg pod on the national flag as Grenada is the world's second-largest producer of nutmeg, after Indonesia.

By visiting the mesmerizing island of Grenada, you can enjoy one of the most incredible natural wonders of the world, with 45 public; there are no nude beaches so make sure you pack your swimsuit.

Grenada has several fabulous waterfalls, with only a few of them known to the general public. Depending upon your fitness level, you can choose between a gentle stroll through a well tended garden to get to Annandale Falls; or, if you are feeling very energetic, a 20 minute hike through the rain forest to get to the Seven Sisters and Honeymoon Falls.

Grenada is a very popular Caribbean holiday destination, and has a fairly quiet nightlife, especially when compared to other islands like Barbados.
